BLOOMINGTON – Citing the move as temporary for one year, the Central Illinois Flying Aces say the team has received approval from the United States Hockey League to withdraw from the circuit for the 2019-20 season.

A statement on Thursday from the team’s ownership group, CSH International of Everett, Wash., said the Flying Aces’ five-year lease at Grossinger Motors Arena expires at the end of the current season. CSH said all terms of the lease have been fulfilled and the group is committed to ensuring that all vendors continue to be paid.

The Flying Aces have 15 games remaining this season with six contests at home including Friday night. The ownership group added it would look at opportunities to resume play in the 2020-21 season.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
