Debra Underwood

CHENOA – Debra Sue Underwood, 63, of Chenoa passed away at 8 am, Sunday, March 24, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Christ Community Church, Chenoa.  Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.  In lieu of flowers memorials the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Debra was born August 2, 1955 in Bloomington; the daughter of Glenn and Sheralyn (Shoemaker) McKinley.  She married Robert W. Underwood on May 31, 2008.  Her husband Bobby survives in Chenoa.  Her parents, one brother, Mark McKinley and one son Kyle Kimmel preceded her in death.

Also surviving are one son, Travis (Erin) Weller of Columbus, OH; Daughter Kari (Jon) Bettisch of Downs; step-children, Danielle (Ryan) Donovan of Fairbury; Dustin (Whitney) Underwood of Bloomington; Derek Underwood of Fairbury; sister, Kathy (Ted) Lacina of Bartlett; brother, Kevin (Michelle) McKinley of Normal; and seven grandchildren.

Debra graduated from Chatsworth HS in 1973 and worked for Caterpillar Inc. for over 35 years.  She attended Christ Community Church in Chenoa and volunteered at Hope Pregnancy Center in Pontiac. Debra was a passionate, unselfish woman who loved to serve others.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara Gentes

CHENOA – Barbara Jane Gentes, 88, of Chenoa, passed away at 2:15 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will be held at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.Shirley

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions are directed to American Diabetes Association, El Paso Food Pantry, El Paso or Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Barbara was born August 14, 1930 in Carlock; a daughter to Olza and Pearl (Reeves) Fogle.  She married Ronald Gentes on February 19, 1950 at the Carlock Christian Church, Carlock. Her husband, Ronald survives in Fairbury. Her parents preceded her in death.

Other survivors include one son, Tom Gentes of Chenoa; two daughters, Janet Gentes of Laurinburg, NC; Gail Gentes of Prescott, AZ; grandchildren, Katie (Andy) Holland of Charleston, SC; Matt (Dawn Carson) Trier of Kannapolis, NC; and great-grandchildren.

Barbara was a devoted wife, life partner, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful “Lutheran” and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa; where she served on the Ladies Aid for many years. She was also a member of the Pike Township Home Extension.  Barbara enjoyed playing golf later in life.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley White

CHENOA – Shirley Lee White, 83, of Chenoa, passed away at 6:50 pm, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be 7 pm, Monday, April 1, 2019 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa; with Pastor David Heath officiating.

A visitation with her family will be 5 to 7 pm, prior to her memorial service also at the funeral home in Chenoa on Monday.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family of Shirley Lee White.

Shirley was born August 30, 1935 in Chenoa; a daughter to Lee and Nancy (Pickett) Newkirk.  She married Franklin “Cubby” White on November 7, 1958 in Chenoa.  Her husband Cubby preceded her in death in 2010.  Her parents and 2 sisters, Mary Newkirk and Dorothy Tollensdorf also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her two sons, Mark (Carol) White and Gary White both of Chenoa; two grandchildren, Dustin White of Chenoa; and Morgan White of Carbondale.
