Royalene Toombs

FAIRBURY – Royalene A. (Metz) Toombs, 89, of Fairbury, formerly of Forrest, Mahomet, and Camargo, passed away at 1:00 p.m. on April 23, 2019 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury, Illinois.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 4:00-6:00 p.m., at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Fairview Haven Nursing Home, or OSF Hospice (Bloomington, Illinois).

Royalene was born June 14, 1929, in Forrest, Illinois, the youngest daughter of Roy and Martha Haab Metz.

Royalene is survived by her five children:   Jean Essington, Indianapolis, Ind.; Tom (Gayle) Toombs, Monticello; Tim (Denise Flora) Toombs, Apex, N.C.; Julie (Doug) Delheimer, Nashville, Tenn.; and Ted Toombs, Ft. Collins, Col.  She has thirteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Royalene was preceded in death by her parents; both of her brothers, Earl and Ivan; and all four of her sisters, MaryAnn Plattner, Ruth Thiel, Betty Nussbaum, and Mildred Allen; and her husband of 55 years, Robert Toombs.
