MCLEAN – A woman died early Friday after the car she driving collided with another car, then fell into a retention pond McLean.
McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder issued a statement late Friday afternoon announcing the victim is a Sangamon County woman, Adrienne McNeil, 29, of Rochester.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate McNeil drowned after her car collided with another vehicle on northbound Interstate 55, near McLean, and went into the retention pond, where the car was submerged in the water.
First responders were called about 7:45 a.m. Friday, and McNeil was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m.
Yoder said Hudson’s dive team was on the scene, along with firefighters from McLean, Dale Township, and Bloomington.
The coroner’s office and Illinois State Police are investigating.
