BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Police Department has identified the man who was killed in a fatal hit and run accident over the weekend.
39-year-old Corey Cotrell, Normal, was killed by injuries sustained in the accident when his motorcycle and a van collided near the intersection of Main St. and Macarthur Ave. in Bloomington.
Police arrived on the scene and learned that the driver of the van had fled on foot.
The van was reportedly driving east on Macarthur Ave. and the motorcycle was driving north on Main St. before the crash.
The motorcyclist was transported from the scene by rescue personnel to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, and was later pronounced dead by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
The incident is still under investigation, and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the BPD at 309-820-8888.
It is the second fatality involving a motorcycle crash in three days, after Joshua Rash, 45, died when his motorcycle struck a fixed object on Pipeline Road last Thursday.
