MAROA – A vehicle stolen from Clinton and driven by a drunken driver crashed into an off-duty Maroa squad car late Monday evening.
Macon County Sheriff’s Office said Officers were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to Maroa where an off-duty Officer stated that his squad car had been damaged. The officer described the suspected vehicle as a red Ford truck.
MCSO later located the vehicle in Maroa along with the 26-year-old male suspect. MCSO conducted a field and sobriety test on the suspect where he was then arrested for intoxication. Additionally, Officers say the suspects’ driver’s license was expired.
The suspects’ name has yet been released. The suspect remains in the Macon County Jail on $15,000 bond on charges of aggravated driving under the influence, and stolen motor vehicle.
A court date has yet to be set.
