NORMAL – The power of social media is enabling Illinois State University Police to adopt a recruit who is likely to become the department’s most popular officer.
Sage is a two-year old black lab whose most important skill is affection. Sage will be around to relieve stress for those filing police reports, and for officers and dispatchers to make their stressful days a little brighter.
The pooch will be an ambassador of sorts for the department, appearing at various campus and public safety events.
Only a week ago, ISU police posted a fundraising appeal to adopt Sage. Thanks to 143 Facebook shares, 32 retweets, and 78 donors the department has met its $4,000 fundraising goal.
There are three weeks to go in the fundraising campaign and police would appreciate additional donations to help care for Sage and provide specialized training.
