CLINTON – Police are warning businesses in Clinton to be cautious of counterfeit $100 bills.

Clinton police said Friday over the past week there have been multiple reports of the counterfeit bills circulating around area businesses.  At first glance, the bills appear to be authentic, but they each have the same consistent serial number along with other disparities, according to CPD.

Authorities are investigating the situation. Businesses are encouraged to confirm the integrity of $100 bills by using a marking pen or water mark.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Clinton police at 217-935-9441 or Crime Stoppers at 217-935-3333.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
