Pritzker: Enrollment numbers show investment in education

BLOOMINGTON – Gov. JB Pritzker is thrilled about enrollment at Illinois State University. The school welcomed its largest freshman class in 33 years.

Pritzker told WJBC’s Scott Miller education is a big focus for the state.

“I’m so excited about the direction of enrollment and I think its an indication of when you invest in education in Illinois, at an appropriate level, people want to attend school’s here,” Pritzker said.

The governor said the capital bill that was signed into law over the summer invests $143 million into ISU.

“That money will go toward projects like the Milner Library rehabilitation, roof replacements, and emergency repairs at the College of Fine Arts.”

Pritzker also spoke about the issue of vaping, and he’s still recovering from a hairline fracture in his left leg.  He expects to be fully recovered in four weeks.
