Normal West earned a crosstown victory in Week 4 of high school football while Central Catholic snapped a losing streak.
Normal West 31, Bloomington 18: The host Purple Raiders took an 8-7 lead after one quarter but West (3-1) scored the next 24 points to open up the contest. Carson Camp led the victorious Wildcats on 16-of-20 passing for 260 yards and five touchdowns, two scoring strikes each to Jamari Myer and Cole Hernandez. Bloomington (2-2) recorded 215 yards total offense.
Central Catholic 25, Olympia 14: Jake Slaughter rushed 20 times for 222 yards and three touchdowns for Central Catholic (1-3) to break a 13-game losing streak. Grant Kessinger countered with 183 yards on 24 carries and one touchdown for Olympia (2-2). The visiting Spartans cut the margin to 14-13 in the third quarter before the Saints pulled away with two touchdowns in the fourth period. The Saints’ second touchdown occurred with one second left before halftime on a fake field goal.
Jacksonville 31, U-High 19: The visiting Crimsons (2-2) led 14-12 at halftime and broke open the game with 17 unanswered points. Chris Polley ran 25 times for 175 yards and a touchdown while Gavin Roegee rushed 21 times for 98 yards and a touchdown for Jacksonville (2-2). U-High (0-4) was led by 132 yards on 13-of-17 passing by Camdyn Barclay.
Lapeer, Mich. 42, Normal Community 8: Lapeer (3-1) scored on the game’s first play on a 62-yard run and didn’t look back. Normal Community falls to 3-1.
Heyworth 26, Ridgeview-Lexington 21: Quarterback Dawson Brooks recorded 172 yards on 18 carries and scored the game-winning four-yard touchdown for Heyworth (3-1, 1-0 Heart of Illinois Conference Small). Grant VanVickle rushed 12 times for 110 yards for Ridgeview-Lexington (2-2, 1-1).
Tremont 25, LeRoy 6: Caiden Buster rushed 21 times for 101 yards and four touchdowns for Tremont (3-1, 2-0 Heart of Illinois Conference Small). LeRoy falls to 1-2 and 0-2 in conference play.
