University High School earned its first win of the high school football season in a weather-altered Week 5 schedule Friday night, as two other games were suspended and one was postponed to Saturday.
U-High 29, Springfield Lanphier 26: U-High (1-4) led 14-0 after one quarter and 21-14 at halftime over Lanphier (1-4). An interception by Zane Sorenson deep in U-High territory with 15 seconds remaining sealed the win. Spencer Parker led the Pioneers with 192 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries while Cam Barclay collected 75 yards rushing with one touchdown along with 48 passing yards and a touchdown through the air.
Bloomington 58, Urbana 6: The Purple Raiders (3-2, 3-1 Big Twelve) led 22-0 after the first quarter and 42-6 at halftime. Urbana falls to 0-5. Bloomington quarterback Ben Wellman was 7-of-13 passing for 146 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders rushed for 240 yards and forced three turnovers.
Monticello 21, Central Catholic 14: A late drive fell just short as the Saints (1-4) lost at Monticello (4-1). Central Catholic led 14-7 at halftime but the host Sages took the lead for good late in the third quarter on an eight-yard TD run by Chris Brown.
Tri-Valley 28, LeRoy 7: Evan Reynolds rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns to pace Tri-Valley (2-3, 1-1 Heart of Illinois Large). Andrew Petrilli added 82 yards on the ground for the Vikings. Jeff Tuley ran for 81 yards for LeRoy (1-4, 0-2 Heart of Illinois Small).
