NWS: Weekend tornado caused minor damage in Logan County

LINCOLN – The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes caused minor damage in parts of central Illinois over the weekend.

The weather service said a tornado formed in an open field Sunday at 4:18 p.m. in northern Logan County, about two miles northwest of Emden. The tornado damaged tree limbs and crops and dissipated at 4:26 p.m., according to the NWS.

Another tornado was spotted Friday in northeastern Fulton County, about five miles northeast of Canton. The weather service said the tornado lasted for about five minutes, but damaged numerous trees, roofs of several homes, a church and a greenhouse.

The weather service said there were no reports of any injuries.
