BLOOMINGTON – Jobs were up compared to last year in the Twin-Cities and 12 other metro areas around the state.
Bloomington-Normal added 100 jobs over the year, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Champaign-Urbana added 2,700 jobs and Carbondale-Marion saw a gain of 1,600 jobs over the year. Peoria lost 1,500 jobs compared to September of last year.
The unemployment rate was down in the Twin-Cities, dropping from 4% to 3.6%. Three metro areas saw record low unemployment, and 12 total metro areas saw the jobless rate decline.
The unemployment rate across the state dropped three percentage points to 3.6%.
