BLOOMINGTON – There was a heavy police presence on Bloomington’s east side Tuesday afternoon where authorities picked up a Champaign armed robbery suspect.
The Bloomington Police Street Crimes Unit aided Champaign Police and the U.S. Marshals Office in the 400 block of East Market Street to arrest Tyson Biggers, 41, of Champaign.
In a news release, Champaign Police said they arrested Biggers after he attempted to escape from a second-floor window at a Bloomington residence about 2:45 p.m. Police said they recovered a firearm with an extended magazine.
A warrant was issued Friday for Biggers arrest on charges he robbed the same Champaign business twice, Oct. 19 and Oct. 24, threatening a clerk at gun point and making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police said no shots were fired and nobody was hurt in either robbery.
