BLOOMINGTON – McLean County prosecutors this weekend filed felony charges in a domestic violence case in which a man is accused of holding a steak knife to a woman’s throat on Bloomington’s east side.
Bloomington Police were called early Friday evening to the 1200 block of Orchard Road where Andre Banks, 55, allegedly told a woman to move out of the house.
As she was packing, authorities say Banks forced her to the floor in bedroom and held a steak knife to her throat for about two or three minutes.
Authorities said she was able to get up and leave the residence.
Police arrested Banks about 6:20 p.m. Friday.
Prosecutors charged him with aggravated unlawful restraint, unlawful restraint, and domestic battery.
Banks is jailed on a $7,500 cash bond. He’s not allowed to have contact with the alleged victim if he’s released from jail.
