BLOOMINGTON – Winter weather is expected to hit most of the area starting Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisory that goes into effect at noon Wednesday and lasts until noon Thursday for our entire listening area.

Heart of Illinios ABC Meteorologist Joe Puma says snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches is possible.

A snow parking ban will go into effect on all streets in Normal starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday and will remain in effect until further notice. When a parking ban is activated, no parked cars are permitted on any streets in Normal. Cars must be moved off the streets to a driveway, garage or parking lot. Normal Police may ticket vehicles parked on the street.

Also due to the snow, the Village of Mackinaw and the Village of Danvers has issued a parking ban from noon Wednesday until noon Thursday.

The weather service says plan on slippery road conditions, especially during Wednesday evening’s commute. Updated road conditions are available at gettingaroundIllinois.com.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
