NORMAL – An apartment fire Wednesday afternoon in Normal caused heat, smoke, water damage and displaced the tenant.
Fire crews were called around 1 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 400 block of West Locust Street, near the Illinois State University campus, according to a news release.
When crews arrived they located the fire in one apartment and it was reported out in about 10 minutes. The apartment sustained smoke and water damage throughout, but the majority of the heat damage was isolated to a hallway bathroom.
The occupant of the apartment was not injured. The building is managed by Young America Realty. Young America representatives were on site working with the tenant to find alternative living arrangements during repairs.
Investigators said the cause of the fire was accidental. No dollar estimate of damage was available.
