BLOOMINGTON – Illinois gas prices over the week dropped 19 cents, one of the largest weekly decreases in the country, according to the AAA Weekly Fuel Gauge.
On the week, gas price averages in 35 states decreased by double-digits, pushing the national average to $2.25, the cheapest price point of the year.
“AAA expects gas prices to continue trending cheaper, with the high likelihood of the national average hitting $2/gallon before the end of March,” said Molly Hart, spokesperson for AAA.
In Bloomington-Normal, gas prices are $1.97, down from $2.44 a month ago, and from $2.51 a year ago. In Springfield gas is $1.97, prices in Champaign are $2.22, and in Peoria gas is $2.32.
