NORMAL – Rivian is closing all facilities including its plant in Normal to slow the spread of COVID-19, but the electric vehicle maker pledges to pay its workers.
“We are committed to everyone on our team. Both our salaried and hourly workforce will continue to be paid during this shutdown,” Rivian said in a statement posted on Facebook.
A Rivian spokesperson said 300 people work at the factory in Normal where the company plans to start producing a pick-up truck and sport utility vehicle later this year.
It’s not known yet how the temporary closure will impact the start of production.
