BLOOMINGTON – While Illinoisans continue to shelter-in-place due to the coronavirus the McLean County Museum of History is expanding its outreach digitally.

Education Program Coordinator Hannah Johnson says the museum has put together a list of resources on various digital platforms.

“We are putting together resource packets to share with school administrators, educators, students and museum visitors,” she said.  “We also started a digital series called MUSE 2U which is our way to share activities that are museum and exhibit inspired that you can do from the comfort of your home.”

Those resources and the MUSE 2U program are on the museum’s website, mchistory.org, Facebook and Instagram.

Meanwhile, the museum says during this time the staff has been meeting regularly through the Zoom app.  Only essential staff have been working at the museum to ensure facilities and archives remain safe.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
