Woman dies in Farmer City house fire

FARMER CITY – Authorities are investigating a fatal house fire in rural DeWitt County.

Patricia Mae Smith, 73, was killed in the fire that happened around noon Wednesday in Farmer City, according to DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice.  Rice says the victim was the only person living at the residence.  An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

The fire is being investigated by the coroner’s office, DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office, and State Fire Marshal’s Office.
