BLOOMINGTON – State health officials on Saturday announced the first death of an infant in Chicago who tested positive for coronavirus.
“There has never before been a death associated with COVID-19 in an infant. A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of death,” said Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.
The IDPH reported 465 new cases Saturday, including 13 deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 3,491 cases, including 47 deaths, in 43 counties. Cases by county can be found here.
Meanwhile, the McLean County Health Department reported the 11th COVID-19 case in McLean County. The patient is a woman in her 70s. She is recovering at home in isolation.
Data from the MCHD shows approximately 160 people have been tested, 110 tests have been negative and 40 test results are pending. There has been one death in McLean County.
