BLOOMINGTON – The District 87 School Board will vote to name Jeffrey Dobbs the new principal at Sarah E. Raymond School of Early Education at its meeting Wednesday night.
Dobbs will take over for Mrs. Danel Behrends-Harr who will become principal at Sheridan Elementary.
“His background along with his prior 16 years of experience in District 87 makes him an excellent fit for Raymond,” said Superintendent Barry Reilly in a news release.
Dobbs is the current principal at Dr. Howard Elementary School in Champaign. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Illinois University in 1993 and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Illinois State University in 2005.
From 1999-2015, he taught multiple grade levels at Bent Elementary School. During this time, he also served as an administrative intern at Raymond and Bent schools. Dobbs began working as a school administrator in Champaign in 2015.
“District 87’s commitment to students and families is one of the reasons I was drawn back,” said Dobbs. “Early childhood education is so critical and has become a passion of mine since I completed my administrative internship at Raymond.”
Dobbs lives with his husband in Normal and has two sons.
The board will meet Wednesday night via Zoom.
