BLOOMINGTON – While the McLean County Health Department announced no new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, health officials say of the 121 county-wide cases, five are from a long-term care facility.

“Over the weekend, we did have some additional cases reported to us, and five of those individuals are from the Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, a long-term care facility here in McLean County,” Jessica McKnight McLean County Health Department Administrator said. “It is still under investigation, so there are no staff currently that are ill, but again the investigation is currently on-going.”

Of the five individuals hospitalized, two are currently hospitalized and are in good condition.

“We have been working in our long-term care facilities from really the beginning of this, and it started with limiting and no visitation from the outside to those long-term care facilities,” McKnight added.

McKnight said of the 121 McLean County cases, 24 remain in home isolation, four remain hospitalized, and 90 have fully recovered. There have been three deaths in the county.

Health officials report 3,467 McLean County residents have been tested for COVID-19.

During his daily press briefing heard on AM 1230 WJBC, Gov. Pritzker announced 1,266 new cases and 54 additional deaths moving the statewide totals to 79,007 cases and 3,459 deaths.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
