BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man is in custody for a hit and run that happened Sunday night following a rally in the downtown area, according to police.
Bloomington police said Marshall R. Blanchard, 21, was taken into custody around 10 p.m. without incident. The suspect’s motorcycle was also located and towed. Blanchard faces several charges including leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, which is a felony, reckless conduct, and failure to obey a police officer. Blanchard is being held at the McLean County jail. No bond information is available at this time.
Around 7:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to Front Street and Madison Street for a hit and run involving a motorcycle with injuries. When officers arrived, they rendered aid to a 22-year-old woman who had serious but non-life threatening injuries to her torso and legs. She was transported to Advocate BroMenn’s Emergency Department. Later that night, officers learned of an additional victim stemming from the incident, a 28-year-old man, with an arm injury after he went to OSF St. Joseph’s Emergency Room.
The incident happened after a NAACP rally in downtown Bloomington to protest police violence following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
