GRIDLEY – McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder has identified the construction worker who was hit and killed Tuesday morning in Gridley.
Larry Williams, 59, of Bloomington died from head injuries after being hit by a car, according to preliminary autopsy results. Toxicology testing is pending.
Illinois State Police said the accident happened on U.S. Route 24 near the intersection of Ford Street. Abuelsood Juma, 58, of Peoria was travelling westbound when he allegedly hit the construction worker who was directing traffic, according to ISP.
Authorities said the driver was cited for failure to yield to a construction worker and speeding.
The incident remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and ISP.
