NORMAL– Electric-vehicle manufacturer Rivian will be adding close to 40 additional jobs to the Twin Cities as it locates its Customer Engagement Center to the Normal based facility.
The new center will give the company’s customer engagement employees the chance to train in and around the vehicles as well as have daily contact with Rivian consumers.
Applauding Rivian’s plans, president of the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council, Patrick Hoban, released a statement saying the company’s decision is a testament to the quality of talent in Bloomington-Normal.
Hoban said while the new jobs and investment are above and beyond those outlined in Rivian’s initial development agreement, they have not asked for additional incentives.
The new facility will be located in the enterprise zone, so Rivian won’t have to pay sales taxes on building materials.
