BLOOMINGTON – A second school district in the Twin-Cities is giving families more time to make sure kids have required immunizations and physical exams for the next school year.
The District 87 School Board voted Wednesday night to extend the deadline to October 15, instead of when they register for classes.
Kids won’t be allowed to attend school after October 15 without proof they’ve had their immunizations and physicals.
Unit 5 also set an October 15 deadline because administrators said several pediatricians, closed for several weeks due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, might not be able to handle the rush of children needing their immunizations and physicals in time for the start of school.
Also, the McLean County Health Department has been so busy dealing with the COVID-19 crisis, the agency might not be able to accommodate kids needing their immunizations.
