Coroner: Man found behind Washington Plaza identified

WASHINGTON – A man who was found dead Wednesday morning in Tazewell County has been identified.

Kyle McMurtrey, 34, of Washington was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m., according to Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley. McMurtrey was found behind the Washington Plaza, formerly the Sunnyland Plaza, in Washington.

The cause and manner of death is being withheld at this time due to the ongoing investigation by Washington Police, Illinois State Police, the Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s Office, and coroner’s office.
