BLOOMINGTON – While local elections are still months away, Bloomington’s top elected official contemplates a re-election bid.
“That’s what I’m thinking about right now, and there are certainly quite a few things that I would like to finish everything including the downtown transfer center for Connect Transit, some downtown and older neighborhood initiatives that we’ve got,” Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “As well as more economic development of Eastland Mall and some other things, there are some things I feel like I don’t want to leave them partially done that I feel like I need some closure to it.”
Renner said if it were not for Bloomington City Manager Tim Gleason, he would not be thinking about re-running due to personal issues.
“In my first 5 1/2 years as Mayor, (I’ve never had) my city manager come to me and say ‘don’t worry, Mayor I’ll take care of that.’ He makes stuff happen. He’s really amazing; he’s worth his weight in gold. I mean, we really have an incredible duo in Tim Gleason.”

Renner will be making his decision within the next couple of months.
