BLOOMINGTON – Vote-by-mail applications will be sent out to active registered voters in McLean County and the city of Bloomington no later than August 1.
The vote-by-mail initiatives are in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and an effort to address the health and safety concerns of voters and poll workers.
Applications will be sent to those who have voted in any of the last three elections, or registered or changed their address since March 18, according to the McLean County Clerk’s Office and the Bloomington Election Commission.
Those who receive the application can fill it out and return it to their election authority, but voters can also complete the application on the State Board of Elections website.
However, multiple organizations could be sending out vote-by-mail applications, so voters will only need to return one application.
Ballots for the November 3 general election will be ready for mailing on September 24, according to the clerk’s office and BEC.
For those wishing to vote in person, the clerk’s office and the BEC say they are also taking safety precautions on Election Day.
