NORMAL – Qualifying residents in Normal can now apply for housing assistance if they have had income or job loss due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Normal officials announced Thursday income-qualified residents can receive up to two months of assistance, or $2,000 in total for a single year, for housing assistance.
The Community Development Block Grant funding of $246,067 comes from the federal CARES Act, according to a release by the town of Normal.
The assistance program was created in partnership between the town of Normal and Mid Central Community Action.
Funding is provided to residents who live within the town of Normal and has documentation on losing a job or has had income loss due to the pandemic, as well as being able to meet certain income qualifications.
According to the release, qualifying income limits are subject to change by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
