SPRINGFIELD – The leader of the minority party in the Illinois Senate took time Tuesday to share some of his views with chambers of commerce for Springfield and Sherman.
Minority Leader Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) reviews some of the action during those last session days in May.
“We had various reasons in which we didn’t support the budget this year,” Brady said via Zoom. “It was $6 billion out of balance. We did not think that enough of our input was taken in reappropriating our resources in the best interests of our state. That $6 billion relies on $5 billion in borrowing from the Federal Reserve – which is available but will have to be paid back.”
Not just the budget needs to be balanced. Brady said you have to balance the needs of pensioners with those of taxpayers. And the concern for people’s health with that for the economy.
