CHICAGO – Driver services facilities across Illinois will be closed for a few weeks due to COVID-19.

As a precaution, the facilities will close Nov. 17 and reopen Dec. 7, according to Secretary of State Jesse White.

“The health and safety of employees and the public remains paramount and face-to-face transactions potentially increase the further spread of the virus,” said White.

In addition, White announced that expiration dates for driver’s licenses and ID cards will be extended until June 1, 2021. This June 1, 2021 extension also includes those who have February, March, April and May 2021 expiration dates.

White is encouraging people to take advantage of online services at cyberdriveillinois.com.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
