PEORIA – Health care workers at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria were some of the first to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Illinois.

Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said the workers will need a second round.

“It’s very important that everyone understands that you do need both vaccines with that minimum of 21 days apart,” she said. “They can not consider themselves appropriately covered or immune from this single shot.”

There are 90 hospitals that will be giving the vaccine this week to health care staff in counties with the highest COVID death rates, said Ezike. That doesn’t include McLean County.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
