U.S. surgeon general visits Chicago to address state’s COVID-19 response

SPRINGFIELD – The U.S. surgeon general lent his authority to a news conference in Chicago Tuesday, addressing the state’s coronavirus response. Jerome Adams said Illinois is doing a great job managing the pandemic, which he called a marathon.

“We have a finish line in sight with these two vaccines,” Adams said. “That’s new news, and that’s great news. But we have to stay the course a little bit longer. We can’t let fatigue cause us to make poor decisions this holiday season that end up making us backtrack, especially when we are so incredibly close to getting ourselves and everyone else across the finish line.”

He adds to guard against misinformation. Says the surgeon general: “Facts, then vax.”
