BLOOMINGTON – If you want to travel out of the country and return home you’ll have to test negative for COVID-19.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirement expands on a similar one announced late last month for passengers coming from the United Kingdom.

Most countries and resorts will likely offer a COVID test a few days before your return home, according to Tim Davis with Direct Travel in Bloomington. But what if you test positive?
“There are talks that the resort will set aside a certain block of rooms, they are only running at about a 40% occupancy, so if someone does test positive they can go back to the resort and be accommodated until they can test negative or finish the 14-day quarantine,” Davis told WJBC’s Scott Miller.
Davis added that the requirement is still in the early stages and more information will come out over the next week.
The new order from the CDC takes effect Jan. 26.
