MCHD reports 2 additional COVID-related deaths

BLOOMINGTON – A woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s have died from COVID-19 complications, according to local health officials Wednesday.

The McLean County Health Department said both were associated with long-term care facilities. There have been 136 COVID-related deaths in the county.

MCHD reported 89 new cases, as there are 22 McLean County residents in the hospital due to COVID, and 651 are in home isolation. McLean County hospitals are reporting 58% of ICU beds in use, 77% of total beds in use, and 27 people hospitalized for COVID-19.

The county’s rolling positivity rate inched up to 6.8%. 165 additional people were released from isolation, now 12,435 have recovered.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

Phase 1a and Phase 1b include an estimated 50,000 people in McLean County. Appointments are required for vaccine clinics at this time, and can be made through the Health Department’s website https://health.mcleancountyil.gov. Due to high demand, all appointments for the first posted clinics have been filled. The public is encouraged to continue checking the calendar on the Health Department’s website as additional clinics will be added.

Over 6,500 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in McLean County.
