BLOOMINGTON – Natwan Nash’s mother and fiancee say the 26-year-old was a loyal son, partner, and father with dreams of starting his own landscape business.
The coroner says Nash was killed after he was shot several times at an apartment on the 2400 block of Clearwater on Sunday evening.
“He made it his business to make sure that our son was taken care of…physically, mentally, and financially…I think that was his whole world,” said Venita Boyd.
Boyd is Nash’s fiancee, the’ve known each other since grammar school and have a three-year-old son.
“He was always concerned about protecting him and making sure and loving him because he just wanted his son to have a father, that was his biggest thing…I can’t even look at my son because he reminds me of his dad so much, like they look like twins,” said Boyd.
Nash’s mother, Shyvone Meeks, said her son was a protective and caring son, calling him a “momma’s boy.” She had a message for the person or persons who killed her son.
“He had people that loved him, if you had to ask he woulda gave it to you, you didn’t have to do this, for real. Whatever you wanted, I woulda gave it to you just to spare his life,” said Meeks.
The Bloomington Police Crime Scene Unit and members of the McLean County States Attorney’s officer were back at the apartment on Clearwater on Tuesday. No arrests have been made.
Nash’s family said they do not know what happened Sunday night but asked anyone with information to come forward.
