CHICAGO – It was a victory lap Monday afternoon for the governor and for members of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus, gathering at Olive Harvey College on the south side of Chicago to celebrate the caucus-pushed workforce / education bill.
And if you feel like giving up, don’t tell Senate Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford (D-Maywood).
“It takes more than caring parents to break down the barriers our communities face. This is why we’ll never accept the norm of our Black youth not having a bright future,” she said, “or Black adults not having successful careers.”
