BLOOMINGTON – McLean County Jail inmates got COVID-19 vaccines at the jail on Wednesday, but the sheriff told Heart of Illinois-ABC only about a quarter of them wanted the shot.
The McLean County Sheriff’s Office posted pictures on its Facebook page of Illinois National Guard members who administered the vaccine and helped jail staffers watch over inmates after they received the shot.
“All inmates were afforded the opportunity to receive the vaccine,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
Sheriff Jon Sandage said 64 inmates, or about 25% of the jail’s population, decided to get their COVID vaccine on Wednesday.
