BLOOMINGTON – A local grant-making public charity awarded over 60 grants this week to non-profits around the area.
Michele Evans is the Grants and Communications Director for the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation based in Bloomington.
“In our spring grant cycle we awarded 66 grants to programs in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston and Logan counties. That amounted to $119,173 going out into the community to support programs,” said Evans.
There were three different categories of grants with awards ranging from $500 to $5,500. Funding came from donors to the Community Foundation’s annual campaign, the Jerome Mirza Foundation, and several endowments at the Community Foundation.
Evans says they hope the money will help these organizations, many of whom have tight budgets amid COVID-19.
