A sign of the times, ISU’s student newspaper moves from print to all-online service

NORMAL – Illinois State University’s student newspaper has published its final print edition. The Vidette had been published in print for 133 years.

Like so many other newspapers, the Vidette has seen declining print revenues in recent years, so it’s becoming an all-digital platform

The pandemic and rapidly-advancing technology played into the decision to publish entirely online, but there’s still plenty of room to grow, said Vidette General Manager John Plevka.

“It’s a transition. The Vidette has been invented and reinvented several times over history. This is another one of those, and the students will make that happen.

“I am totally confident of that happening here at the Vidette,” Plevka said.
