Gov. Pritzker announces COVID-19 vaccines will be available in business districts throughout Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – As many Illinoisans head back to the office for the first time in more than a year, something new will be waiting for them: a chance to get a coronavirus vaccination.

Gov. JB Pritzker made that announcement in Chicago’s Loop, saying the vaccines will be available in business districts throughout the state. Details of any outside the Chicago area are apparently yet to come.

Not all state agencies are open, though. Responding to a reporter’s question, Pritzker praised the effort of the Illinois Department of Employment Security, overwhelmed in the early days of the pandemic and now practically nobody’s favorite state agency. He said IDES is available by phone and virtually, and its reopening is tied to security concerns, given threats to front-line personnel and management alike.
