NPD: Tour bus stolen in Uptown Normal, one person in custody

NORMAL – A tour bus was stolen early Thursday morning in Uptown Normal then crashed in the 1800 block of East College Avenue, according to Normal Police.

Police say a man stole the bus outside the Hyatt Hotel on Broadway Avenue while the driver was on board. The bus then crashed around 6:10 a.m. in a retention pond near the Meijer gas station.

Authorities say both men were conscious and taken to local hospitals.

Police have identified the suspect as Kvon Tooles, 23, of Normal. He was arrested and was transported to the McLean County jail. According to our news partner HOI ABC, Tooles has been booked for motor vehicle theft, aggravated reckless driving, resisting a police officer, and aggravated battery to a police officer.
