Bloomington man sentenced to 20 years in prison for selling heroin that resulted in a death

BLOOMINGTON –  A Bloomington man has been sentenced in federal court to 20 years in prison for selling heroin that resulted in a death in 2018.

The sentencing is a result of 36-year-old Jacob Schultz’s arrest in 2019.

Senior U.S. District Judge Michael Mihm also ordered that Schultz remain on supervised release for five years following his release from prison.

Schultz pleaded guilty in February 2019 to one count of distribution of heroin resulting in the death of an individual on Nov. 8, 2018, and one count of distribution of heroin on Feb. 24, 2019, which also resulted in a heroin overdose; however, the individual was successfully resuscitated.
