BLOOMINGTON – Fresh from celebrating its 130th Birthday this past weekend, the Miller Park Zoo has rebranded its logo, mission statement and values.
Zoo director Jay Tetzloff presented and explained the new logo during a press conference Wednesday.
“It features our current signature exhibits, the flamingos, our snow leopard and cats in general, and our new exhibit that will be opening the De Brazza monkey,” said Tetzloff. “Orange was chosen for its high visibility and its feeling of excitement, enthusiasm and warmth. Blue was chosen for its representation of water, calmness and relaxation. Green was chosen for its symbolization of nature, renewal, rebirth and growth. Paired with the tri-color swirl are the words “MILLER PARK ZOO” and “EST. 1891.”
The zoo’s new mission statement is, “Engaging our community in conservation, education and fun.”
Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe was in attendance for the announcement.
“The zoo has been here for a very long time and it is something that will continue to provide a lot of benefits not only for the residents of Bloomington but also people from outside the area,” said Mwilambwe.
