BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man has been sentenced to 80 years in prison on eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13.

Juan Lorenzo, 43, will need to serve at least 85% of his sentence, which was handed down to him on Tuesday by Judge Casey Costigan in McLean County Court.

Prosecutors in the trial asked for 160 years, or 20 years for each charge.

A jury found Lorenzo guilty in April.

According to the McLean County State’s Attorney, Lorenzo knew the victim.

Lorenzo was arrested in May of 2019, with the charges alleging the crimes took place between 2014 and 2015.

Lorenzo plans to make an appeal.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
