BLOOMINGTON – After historic flooding across the area, the McLean County Emergency Management Agency is opening a Multi-Agency Resource Center, or MARC.

The MARC will open Saturday, July 17th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday July 18th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A location is still being confirmed.

Officials from the agency say there is a ‘significant’ number of people and businesses that need assistance, according to a press release.

“We will be working with local and state agencies to bring assistance to the people and businesses affected by the severe weather from June 25 – June 27,” a statement from Acting Director of the McLean County EMA, Cathy Beck read.

Typically, MARC’s bring together representatives from agencies like the Illinois Department of Human Services, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other local assistance agencies.

The county issued a disaster declaration June 30th to help with damage assessments.

Agencies or businesses that would like to participate should contact McLean County EMA at (309) 888-5020 or [email protected].

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
