NORMAL – Connect Transit has named David Braun as its next general manager.

Braun replaces Isaac Thorne who resigned in August of 2020 to take a similar job in Knoxville, Tennessee. Former Normal City Manager Mark Peterson has been serving as the interim general manager since last November and will stay on until Braun starts Aug. 9.

Braun spent 22 years at First Transit, serving in various senior management roles at multiple locations including CityLink in Peoria, where he served as both the Assistant General Manager and the General Manager from 1996 to 2002. He most recently served as Director of Transit Operations for Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority in Cincinnati.

“We feel very fortunate to have been able to attract a candidate as experienced and accomplished as is David Braun,” said Connect Transit Board Chairman Ryan Whitehouse. “The members of the Board of Trustees are confident that Mr. Braun will find ways to make our already outstanding transit system even better.”

According to our news partner Heart of Illinois ABC, Braun’s first-year salary will be $157,000.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
